| Walking or Biking with Djoser There is no better way to enjoy the beauty of a country than a walking or cycling experience. Your legs carry you to the most beautiful places and see things you would pass if you were driving. Your experience is intense and personal. On our Walking and Biking tours, we visit beautiful natural areas and remote villages, and mingle with the locals! Who Travels On These Trips These trips are suitable for anyone who enjoys an active way of traveling and in good health. If you love nature, peace and quiet, then you've come to the right place. We travel in small groups. For walking tours, the maximum is sixteen and for bicycle trips the group consists of up to twenty participants. The Djoser Walking Tours are suitable for experienced hikers, but also the less experienced can enjoy the shorter easier walks. The challenge level of the trips varies widely. Some travel days consist of a hike in the surroundings of our accommodation. In other trips you make a multi-day trek with no rest days. There are also trips with optional walks possible on the designated rest days, such as climbing a mountain peak. The bike tours are suitable for those who bike regularly and who are in good fitness and health. Besides the walks and biking, there is time to pursue other activities. Participants – International Group This makes us different. Djoser’s groups have an international mix. With headquarters in Holland, you will find most of the participants are Dutch, some from Belgium with a scattering of North Americans. Participants of these active trips warm up to one another quickly and you will find most everyone from Holland and Belgium have a superb command of English. You will find a diverse age group on Djoser trips. Lodgings Accommodations during these trips are very diverse. They are not large, luxury hotel with many facilities, but rather small, comfortable, friendly accommodations, close to the places we want to visit. Depending on the trip you may sleep one night in a hotel / guest house and the other night in a village house with a local family or in a cozy mountain hut, which gives an extra dimension to your trip. In Vietnam you stay a few nights at a family home . In Italy we sleep in a cozy family hotel ,in Iceland in a tent, and in South Africa in chalets and lodges. This adds to your experience. Transportation Our vehicle will transport us to the first stop from where we make a walk or a ride. Depending on the program, we may return to our lodgings that evening, or continue on. Sometimes our vehicle will drop us off at the beginning of a walk or cycle, and sometimes pick us up afterwards depending on the content of the trip. There are trips where we travel by boat or take a domestic flight. On another trip we only make use of a private bus. With the bike trips we use good quality bikes with multiple gears. On all bike trips we make use of a private bus and possibly an extra luggage truck. T rip details can be found in the detailed itineraries. Travel Support On most Djoser walking and bicycle tours an enthusiastic Dutch travel companion, with ample travel experience, will travel with the group. (They speak Dutch and English). The tour guide a logistics coordinator, rather than a guide. On the more intensive hiking and cycling trips , a local professional local guide will also accompany. The local tour leader or guide takes care of the maintenance of the bike. The tour leader will work with our local travel representatives to see that things run smoothly. The accompanying travel companions are enthusiastic walkers or cyclists and can give advice and help is about the area. Our emphasis is a wonderful experience in nature with cultural experiences and personal contact with the local population. | ||
