Cape Town, Swellendam
Day 1 - Cape Town
Day 2 Cape Town - Swellendam
Our bicycle tour begins and ends in the captivating Cape Town. The history of this city of contradictions speak to everyone's imagination. The colonial buildings and the famous Table Mountain determine the face of Cape Town. Wherever you're standing in the city, you can always see the rise of these impressive, steep mountain walls. Clouds or fog patches often form a nice tablecloth. At the end of the journey we will have enough time to explore this stunning city. The bus takes us first to Robertson where you get on a bike for the first trip through the very wide green valley. In this valley, surrounded by beautiful mountain passes, are many wine and fruit farms. We cycle through a peaceful countryside alongside beautiful fields full of vines. Many wine farms open up their doors to visitors to taste the famous South African wines. Our bicycle tour ends today in Bonnie Vale. Here we will join our bus that we will take throughout the trip. That way you can enjoy the best cycling routes in the country without having to worry about the distances between regions. Today we ride the bus to Swellendam where we stay overnight.
Oudtshoorn
Day 3 Swellendam - Oudtshoorn
Day 4 Oudtshoorn
From the cozy Swellendam we drive through the famous Route 62 to Calitzdorp. Here we begin a wonderful bike ride of about 40 kilometers into the valley of the Matjiesfontein and Oudtshoorn. On the way you see the green landscapes slowly changing to desert near the town of the Little Karoo. The high mountain ridges around the area keep almost all of the rain away from here. As a result, we quickly see the lush green landscape become a drier area with tough bushes. You will be amazed when you see ostriches scratching among the bushes, Oudtshoorn is famous for its ostrich farms. From our well located accommodation outside Oudtshoorn, the cyclists climb the Swartberg Pass. During this spectacular bicycle ride you descend to the bus where your Power Ready awaits. Less experienced cyclists may arrange transport for the up and down cycling. In Oudtshoorn you spend the afternoon visiting an ostrich farm. The feathers from the ostrich farm have long been delivered to the most famous fashion houses. The next day we cycle to the Cangogrotten, known for it's stalactite formations that come in all shapes and sizes. A guide leads you through the impressive caves, where you will find a surprisingly large room, filled with beautiful stalagmites.
Baviaanskloof
Day 5 Oudtshoorn - Baviaanskloof
Day 6 Baviaanskloof
The bus takes you to the Baviaanskloof, one of the most unspoiled areas of South Africa. The gap is located between two parallel mountain ranges, which has led to a landscape of rugged mountains and rocks, but also beautiful flora and fauna. This is a perfect area to explore on our comfortable bikes. From the north side of the gorge lies Willow More, we make a bicycle trip of about 30 kilometer from the Nuwe Kloof. During our stay we stay in Baviaanskloof sands. From your accommodation you will already see baboons, because they are never far away from here. In the beautiful surrounding area of sand we make a 25 kilometer bicycle ride to Rooi angle. During the tour we get a clear picture of the special animals and plants that live in this area, you look your bike from your eyes. The real fans (if they can still have energy) make the rough journey to Death Cliff.
Addo Elephant National Park, Plettenberg Bay
Day 7 Baviaanskloof - Addo Elephant National Park
Day 8 Addo Elephant National Park - Plettenberg Bay
Day 9 Plettenberg Bay

The park is known for his 450 elephants, and provides excellent opportunities for quiet viewing of the huge animals. Besides elephants, many other species of animal live here, such as rhinos, lions and buffaloes. In the afternoon we will make a game drive where we can look for game. If you enjoy this drive to see the game and you want to see more animals, you can of course choose to have one in the morning as well. In the afternoon we drive our bus to the scenic route along the mountainous coastline to Plettenberg Bay, where we can enjoy the white beaches and clear blue sea.
Today we ride our bikes, with a varied itinerary, from our accommodation in Plettenberg Bay. The route passes through the famous Tsitsikamma National Park, which means "place of much water", this name comes from the many streams in the area. The National Park contains beautiful forests and the coastal region is full of native flora. In this area with the rugged coastline, close to the coast, catching sight of dolphins is also a frequent occurrence. We drive one of the many possible routes and at the end of the day we arrive back at our comfortable accommodation.
Hartenbos
Day 10 Plettenberg Bay - Hartenbos
Hartenbos Day 11 - Cape Town
Before we continue driving to Hartenbos, in the morning you can choose an optional mountain bike ride, the Harkerville Trail. There are various tours available in this challenging but very rewarding mountain bike route. The trails are narrower in the woods and lead you to spectacular cliff paths on steep cliffs along the coast. During the whale season, it is also possible to choose a journey that usually runs along the rugged coastline. With any luck you'll see the whales swim past. A glimpse of the largest mammals in the world is an unforgettable experience. Afterward, we take our tour bus to Hartenbos.
From Hartenbos we drive first to Bredasdorp. From there we cycle to the southernmost tip of Africa: Cape Agulhas. The 45 kilometer long route winds along the coastal village of Struisbaai and charming rural villages where fishermen's cottages have braved the wind and weather for years. The tour ends at the lighthouse at Cape Agulhas. From here you can look out over the meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Ocean. At the end of the afternoon we drive to Cape Town.

On the way to Cape Town, the bus stops for a visit to a winery, where we view the production or simply enjoy tasty South African wines in a cozy environment.
Of course we have the second day when we stay in Cape Town with enough time to visit the city. Cape Town is full of historical and interesting places. Walk-Kloof Street and its rich and antique shops on Green Market Square is a vibrant market every day. You can also visit the Grand Parade, the 17th century parade ground where apartheid demonstrations were once held and Nelson Mandela spoke after his release. We can also take the boat to the famous Robben Island, long the prison of Nelson Mandela, from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with its colorful Victorian homes.
