During Djoser walking tours we make day hikes starting from a residence or we make multi-day treks. On rest days you can take extra walks or spend your time as you wish. The tour leader is always able to give tips and suggestions. You are not obliged to participate. Freedom and choice are important elements of Djoser tours. Due to the nature of our trips and the local circumstances, there could be unexpected situations. Therefore it is possible that a particular walk or activity may not be able to proceed or may need to be revised. We travel in groups of about 12 and up to 16 people.
Basel, Kandersteg
Day 1 - Basel - Kandersteg
We stay overnight at the heart of one of the finest Swiss cantons of land, Bernese Oberland. The fascinating landscape is characterized by mountains with snowy peaks, alpine meadows, forests, blue lakes, nice villages and gondolas with vantage points. Our accommodation, Villa Foree, is located in the typical mountain village of Kandersteg at 3900 feet altitude. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the village make it an ideal base for our walking week. We use Villa Foree as a "base camp". During a two-day hike we stay one night in a refuge. During this walking tour we have a number of dinners included in the price of the trip.

Day 3 Kandersteg, Gemmipass
On Sunday we make our first hike. We hike about two and a half hours from Kandersteg to Doldenhornhütte at 6282 feet. The beautiful mountains above Kandersteg goes through a forest of larch and pine trees to the Doldenhornhütte above the tree line. On a clear day you have wonderful views of Kandertal. Through the panoramic route we walk back to Villa Foree. In total we walk today, about five hours on a good passable road, an appropriate introduction to the exercise coming in the next few days. This next day we take the bus to Leukerbad. Here starts our hike to Gemmipass on Monday at 7591 feet above sea level. Gemmipass is a historic route that connects Valais canton with Bern canton. Through the Daubensee Schwarenbach we walk through the valley to the valley station in Kandersteg Gastern. It's a very nice walk along a clear lake and down into a gorge. In total, we walk about five hours.

The climb begins 5531 feet to Griesalp Blüemlisalphütte at 29317 feet. Along the way we take the time for a picnic on a nice spot along our route where we can enjoy the magnificent views of snowy mountain peaks. The ascent takes about 4 / 2 hours. In Blüemlisalphütte we stay on half board basis, and dinner is also included. From the hut, on a ridge, you have a magnificent view of the surroundings. After breakfast we pack our bags again and we walk through the Oeschinsee at the foot of the Blüemlisalp to Kandersteg. The last hike goes through Golitschenalp, to 8362 feet into the valley of the Almenalp Uschinen. Of course you can also choose to spend a day on your own to walk in the area or to relax in the garden of our accommodation. We end the week walking at night with a beautiful and unique hike to the deep blue Blausee. This small, beautiful blue lake is named for the color of the eyes of a mythical maiden. We have reserved a table in the lakeside restaurant and enjoy a delicious final dinner here. The next day the bus will take us back to Basel.
