Day 1 - Naples
Day 2 Naples, visit Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii
After arriving at the airport of Naples we head straight to our hotel on the edge of downtown. According to the German philosopher Goethe Naples you should see Naples before you die. In the evening you can easily explore this vibrant city to get a first impression.
Naples is beautifully situated on an unforgettable bay and there is indeed much to see, despite the devastation during World War II. The city has many museums and churches. You can look around the old neighborhoods and you see the latest fashion displayed in the many windows. In many places you can enjoy the Neapolitan contribution to world, the pizza. Although traffic appears rather chaotic, the city is on comfortably explored on foot.
From Naples we drive east to the volcano Vesuvius, known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Vesuvius and the area around it have been declared a national park and are excellent for walks. We make a nice walk of about two hours around the crater. Vesuvius has two peaks, the highest, Mount Vesuvio, is still active. The fertile slopes of Vesuvius are used to cultivate vines. Lacima Christi, one of the best wines of Italy, has its origins here. In the afternoon we visit Pompeii. After the eruption the area was covered with a thick layer of ash, so the place is well preserved. In the 18th century, Pompeii was the birthplace of modern archeology. It was the first place that was excavated by human hands after an accidental discovery by an architect in 1594. The archaeological excavations give you a taste of life at that time. You can see the forms of people who were surprised by the eruption. During the walk you can see how a city and the houses looked like at the beginning of the era.
Walking time: ± 2 hours
Day 3 Naples - Punta Campanella - Maiori
We leave Naples behind us and drive to Termini, the last town before the tip of the peninsula, Punta Campanella. Here we take a nice walk for four hours through olive groves. This brings us to the viewpoint of Punta Campanella. Those who wish to may walk back the same path, but it is also possible to walk up to the 1630 feet high Monte San Costanzo. You come here via a climb over an old stone staircase. On the mountain stands a small chapel where we look out over the bays of Naples and Salerno and the island of Capri. We descend through woods and dry slopes down through steep limestone walls and the bay of Marina de Ieranto to the lighthouse on the extreme rock. Then we follow the Roman Minerva back to the village Termini. We take the bus from here to our hotel in Maiori where we spend the next few days.
Walking time: ± 4 hours, rise and fall
Day 4 Maiori; Valle delle Ferriere - Amalfi
Our walk of about five hours begins in Atrani, where the path leads us first through the beautiful old town. Then we come to the valley of the river Dragone. The path continues its way through beech woods and meadows to the village of Pontone. Here lies the viewpoint Torre del Ziro where you face the beautiful coastal villages with the clear blue sea. The entire "Amalfi Coast" is on the World Heritage List of UNESCO. Limestone mountains rise more than 1,000 meters high from the sea and in the most unlikely places are houses built and built fishing villages. We walk through the Valle dei Mulini, a green valley with Europe's first paper mills and ruins of medieval mills. The end of the trail is Amalfi, where you at one of the cozy squares can reminisce on the beautiful walk.
Walking time: ± 4/5 hour, rise and fall
Day 5 Maiori
Day 6 Maiori; Minori - Ravello
You can fill this day as you wish. Thus, it is possible to visit the nearby island of Capri or relax on the beach of Maiori. The next day we drive to Minori, from which we take a nice walk to the town of Ravello. We walk through narrow streets with stairs and through the beautiful Mediterranean landscape. Again and again you have a beautiful views of the coast. Ravello is famous for its cathedral and the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, which were a source of inspiration for artists such as Wagner and Escher. After the visit to Ravello, it is possible to walk back to Minori or walk to Atrani and from there take the bus to Maiori.

Day 7 Maiori; Gods trekking course (the Gods) - Positano
The last hike is certainly one of the most beautiful walks on the Amalfi Coast; referred to as “the Path of the Gods”. Here you have a nice view of Vettica and Positano. Past the church and the convent there are no more steps; The path winds its way up through the rocks. Once we are on top of the'Sentiero', the road is slightly curvy. We walk under high cliffs and small valleys between the bushes. The views of Positano and the raw Amalfi coast are unforgettable. In the characteristic Nocelle we descend a staircase down to the church square and walk the last part to Positano. In this almost vertically built town with colorful buildings, it is nice to wander around before the end of the day, the bus returns to the hotel.

Climate & Geography
Italy has different climate zones, depending on latitude, altitude, distance from the sea etc. In general you can say that the Italian climate of the north to the south forms a transition from the soft and rainy climate of Western Europe to the hot, dry Africa. Summers in southern Italy are generally warm. Everywhere you feel the influence of the sea, so the temperature does not rise excessively high and sometimes it rains. We offer this trip in the spring and autumn to avoid the heat and crowds in July and August.
