How do we travel?

With Djoser, you will fly safe and reliable with airlines such as Northwest/KLM, South Africa Airways, Virgin Airlines or British Airways to and from Johannesburg. The local flight from Johannesburg to Livingstone is usually operated by Nationwide Airlines, a reliable local airline. During your safari you travel by 4-wheel drive vehicles that offer you an exellent view of the immediate surroundings. This way you can observe the the wildlife more easily as you can move around much faster than traveling with a safari truck.

Who is the guide for the trip?

The tour is guided by very experienced, English speaking, African driver/guides.

How are the overnights arranged?

On this safari we primarily spend the night in spacious dome tents which are equiped at the entrance with mosquito netting. A camp helper (assistant) that travels along with the group will set up your tent and will put up the beds as well. Near Victoria Falls we spend the night in attractive comfortable chalets.

What is the best time to go on a safari in Botwana?

The safari season in Botswana runs from March until November. From December until the beginning March is the rain season. In April and May the temperatures are very pleasant ranging from 60 to 85 degrees. Between May and August the dry winter period occurs. The wildlife follows the season. In Chobi the rain season attracts Zebra’s and other wild game to the Savutidepressie. At the end of this period from August until till October the wild game moves to the rivers and pools near the Chobi River. In Moremi and the Delta, due to the permanent availability of water, you can view game throughout the year. However due to the sparse vegetation and the short grass you can usually see this it at the end of the dry season.

Are the enty fees for the national parks included in the price?

During the safari the entrée fees for the national parks, Nxai park, Moremi Game Reserve and the Chobi National Park in the amount of $225.00 are included in the price of the trip. Any other entry fees are at your own expense.

I will be traveling with an international group. Will communication be a problem?

This group is made up primarily of Dutch travelers, with a maximum of 4 North American participants. This tour is conducted in English (only) by the African guide making communication quite easy. Most of the Dutch have a wonderful command of English and socializing usually comes easily, especially after the first day or two.

Do I need a visa for Botswana and Zambia?

You don’t need a visa for Botswana. For Zambia a group visa is arranged the cost is $30.00 per person which is included in the cost of your trip and arranged in advance.

What is the electric currency in Botswana?

The electric currency is 220/240 volts. Please be advised that the electricity is often interupted for several hours a day. On the camping grounds in Nxai, Moremi and Savuti there is no electricity available.

Can I stay in touch with home during my trip?

It is possible to make calls in Maun and Livingstone. Internet cafes are availabe in Maun and Livinstone.Cell phone access in the wildlife parks is very limited. Please check with your local cell phone provider regarding service.
